Student Spotlight 01: Jalend Satcher

Meet Jalend Satcher, a Senior majoring in Forensics with an emphasis in Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Southern Mississippi. A dedicated student leader, he is involved in the Southern Miss Association of Black Journalists, where he serves as President. He also serves as the Director of Public Relations for Eagles After Similar Yearnings and is an active member of the Men of Excellence.

When asked about what inspired him to step into his leadership roles on campus, Jalend shared that for him, it was more so about wanting to be the change he wished to see. He also shared that stepping into these leadership roles allowed him to learn the importance of knowing when to step up and take action versus knowing when to step back and help out in his own way behind the scenes, helping him grow both personally and professionally.
